As a former television and managing producer of a nationally-broadcast program, Cheryl Settoon has joined academia, but still enjoys reporting and writing on a freelance basis. Plying her craft, Settoon has produced stories on the human toll of the Gulf Coast BP oil spill and the 2011 NFL lockout.

She has also interviewed notables such as NFL quarterbacks Archie, Peyton, and Eli Manning, the late actress Brittany Murphy, and General Giap of Vietnam. She has interviewed hundreds of lesser known people with fascinating stories such as Setan Lee, a man who escaped Cambodia's killing fields, from which Settoon penned the docudrama, "A Thousand Years in the Killing Fields."

As a communication instructor and specialist, Settoon has qualitative and quantitative access to the millennial generation, teaching media writing, public speaking and television production while attempting to not take herself too seriously. To augment her background in writing television commercials, Settoon has recently pursued an interest in social media marketing and SEO (search engine optimization) strategies.

When not working, Settoon spends time with her amazing family and friends in the Cajun stronghold of south Louisiana, where faith, cooking, sports and good-spirited humor form much of the bedrock of life.

Settoon holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Texas A&M University in Commerce and a master's degree in communication with an advertising concentration from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Va.
